Do I Need To Get a Marriage License?
You only need to obtain a marriage license prior to the ceremony if you wish to be legally married when you leave the chapel. For vow renewals or commitment ceremonies, a marriage license is not necessary. You can obtain a marriage license easily in Las Vegas.
How Much Does a Clark County Marriage License Cost?
A Clark County marriage license costs $102 if you pay in cash. If you choose to pay by credit or debit card, an additional fee will be added to the total cost. Please note that checks are not accepted for payment. A vow renewal certificate costs $21, and a certified marriage certificate costs $20.
Is There a Waiting Period Before We Can Get Married After Obtaining the Marriage License?
No, there is no waiting period to get a marriage license in Las Vegas. Once you apply, you will immediately receive your marriage license after about 15 minutes. Couples can get their marriage license and get married on the same day.
What Kind of ID Do I Need?
According to NRS 122.040, each applicant must provide proof of name and age to obtain a marriage license. The names provided on these documents will be used for the marriage license and certificate as they are written on your identification.
Here are some acceptable forms of ID:
- Driver’s license
- Driver instruction permit
- Official ID card
- Official foreign government-issued ID card, including driver’s license (must include date of birth)
- Passport
- Matricula consular card
- Military ID card
- Military-dependent ID card
- Certificate of citizenship
- Certificate of naturalization
- Permanent resident card
Each form of identification must be original and include a photo of the applicant. If you do not have these forms of identification, you may contact the Clark County Government and ask to use a birth certificate.
What Are the Las Vegas Marriage License Hours?
The Las Vegas Marriage License Bureau is open every day from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m., 365 days a year, including holidays. According to their website, the least busy days to get a marriage license in person are Sunday and Tuesday. The least busy times to go into the Bureau are from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. when the building has just opened and from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. before the venue closes.
It’s important to note that you cannot make a reservation to get a marriage license, and both applicants must attend in person to receive their marriage licenses.

Las Vegas weddings are legally recognized across all states in the United States and are valid in most countries around the world. However, international couples should check with their home country’s governing bodies to see if their marriage will be recognized legally upon their return.
Are There Extra Fees for a Vegas Wedding?
Several small fees will be involved in a Vegas wedding at the Sci-Fi Wedding Chapel. Firstly, you will need to pay the marriage license and marriage certificate fees to the state of Nevada. Our venue requires a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your booking. The balance may be paid on or before the day you arrive at your ceremony. The Sci-Fi Wedding Chapel accepts Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and cash. No personal checks will be accepted.
